The Game is finished for now...
Hello, it's Ying Fu again and this assignment has finally reached its closing stages and probably the final build. If you're curious, the final genre actually came in 2 choices: platformer and shoot-em-up. That was one heck of lucky gacha pull for me as my game had already fit the description of platformer so any new features or mechanics were minimal (Bless as I already had hands full with my Final Year Project and Thesis). However, the lack of requirements of new features and mechanics kinda made me forget about this project as there was no strict obligation and I didn't really worked on this project as much as I wanted to.
Beginning with the first addition, we have a coin collection system and that you buy stats increase buffs with those coins. I think this type addition allow to have that platformer gameplay experience like in Mario and fit well with the buff and randomised level system in the game already. So now you explore the world for coins and kill enemies for them to drop coins!
There are now much more enemy variants in the game as well as moving platforms which I hope allows more thrilling and action-packed gameplay. Most of these variants I made were created from the base AI I had already made as I didn't really have time to create new behaviours and test them for bugs, thus it was better to build off a foundation. However, I think these small tweaks still allow more variants of gameplay choices and hopefully keep the player interest throughout the game
Anyway I don't wanna spoil too much content of the game and this is probably the last update for this project, I might return to its development as a passion project but for now, that door is closed and I have to move on to other projects. Despite it being a school assignment, I hope you'll take the time to play it and hopefully, enjoy playing it as much I had developing it. Now, this is your Solo Quest!
Until next time.
